Like Father Like Son

One of the most supremely difficult things in life is being the offspring of a famous musician who wants to follow in their parent’s footsteps. It often ends in failure, as one is constantly compared to the parent. Baxter Dury seems to be the exception to the rule. Son of the great Ian Dury, Baxter has just released a wonderful new album called Happy Soup. This is his third album, and whilst there are family similarities, Baxter’s album and sound is unique. He has his father’s way of storytelling, but it is less cheeky and more emotional. If you check it out on spotify.com first, you will be able to hear song by song commentary by Baxter. Well worth the listen, after you have purchased, of course. It is one of the most interesting albums to come out in months. Enjoy it.
